Crazy.

Perhaps Rob's prediction will prove prophetic. I have publicly spoken my mind, and that more than once (witness my book and YouTube series). As of yet, anyway, I have not been defrocked, for which I'm grateful.

Creech reminds me of Anwar Sadat- one of those rare men whose understanding transcends their upbringing and zeitgeist while they are in a position of authority.

His is a refreshing and healing voice, all the moreso because of the strains of truth and love in his message. But my hope is that voices such as his will serve to enlighten and change, from without, minds and attitudes within the church membership.Invictus Pilgrimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15961213460164925021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6144399754818696603.post-22173798200359829382011-05-26T08:33:43.490-06:002011-05-26T08:33:43.490-06:00Earlier this week I read a piece in the March 2011...Earlier this week I read a piece in the March 2011 Ensign by LDS General Relief Society President Julie Beck called "Teaching the Doctrine of the Family." While it had no overt homophobia, it described the LDS world and cosmic view in such a relentlessly hetero-exclusive way that a gay person could easily despair of ever being accepted or understood or wanted within such a regime. It was an incredible example of soft bigotry and exclusion from heaven and God's grace of anyone who doesn't fit that one single mold. What a contrast to the person you've described here.

Unfortunately, local LDS leadership can move almost instantaneously with disciplinary councils, so it's virtually guaranteed that no Rev. Creech will ever arise within the LDS Church. Any such person would be pushed out the door if they publicly spoke their mind more than once.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02992194211469009236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6144399754818696603.post-21960481232201578312011-05-26T07:04:35.244-06:002011-05-26T07:04:35.244-06:00Anonymous - THIS is precisely why I wanted to shar...Anonymous - THIS is precisely why I wanted to share what I discovered in Jimmy Creech. And what I have discovered as well is that he is not alone: there are MANY Protestant clerical leaders who are speaking out against the immorality of the institutional Christian church's bigotry, discrimination and exclusion of many of God's children. I hope that your husband can realize that the LDS church's stance on homosexuality HAS and WILL CONTINUE to change. It must. Which means it is NOT "inspired", i.e., it is NOT the mind and will of God. I very strongly believe this; I have received my own personal witness of it. And voices such as Jimmy Creech's help us to realize that there are other perspectives which are loving and affirming of who we are as LGBTQ sons and daughters of God.Invictus Pilgrimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15961213460164925021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6144399754818696603.post-9814806212313656442011-05-26T06:55:07.015-06:002011-05-26T06:55:07.015-06:00Thank you so much for sharing this. He is so tormented by the church's stance on homosexuality, even though he does not consider himself homosexual, and is in constant pain over feeling that he is an enemy to himself.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
